A man died after a dog attack in Jabalpur on Sunday night. The animal bit him repeatedly and scratched him with its claws. Locals rushed the critically injured man to Victoria Hospital, where he died during treatment at around 6:30 am on Monday. The incident took place in the Gohalpur area. Police have registered a case of unnatural death (marg). It is being investigated whether the attacking dog was a stray or a pet that had been left loose. Since the man could not be immediately identified, police sent the body to Chauhani cremation ground for last rites. After a pit was dug and preparations for burial began, some people reached the spot and identified the deceased as Chandan Kol. They claimed he was their relative. After confirmation, police handed over the body to the family. Left home on Saturday, never returned 33-year-old Chandan Kol lived in the Kol settlement of Madhotal. He worked in shuttering plate binding work. He had left home for work on Saturday morning. When he did not return till late night, his family went out searching for him. On Monday, when they reached the police station, they learned about an unidentified body.
