In Dabra, Gwalior district, a gunman accompanying a legislator allegedly abused a farmer after the MLA’s vehicle got stuck in a traffic jam. The farmer later complained directly to the MLA, saying they were voters. In response, the MLA apologised on the spot. He later said that the person involved in the dispute was a Congress worker, adding, “Now what else can we do.” The incident took place on Saturday in Bhitarwar, while the video surfaced on Monday. According to reports, BJP MLA Mohan Singh Rathore was on a field visit in Bhitarwar on Saturday. A traffic jam had formed after a farmer’s trolley overturned on the road, blocking movement. The MLA’s black Fortuner also got stuck in the jam. His gunman stepped out of the vehicle to clear the way, during which an argument broke out with a farmer present at the spot. The situation escalated, and the gunman allegedly used abusive language. The farmer said – we are giving votes, he is abusing Angered by the incident, the farmer stopped the MLA’s vehicle and complained directly to him, saying that they were voters and yet his gunman had abused them. He alleged that the gunman used derogatory language and misbehaved. The farmer told the MLA that they had voted for him, but were being insulted. He said the gunman called them derogatory names. The MLA then rolled down his car window and said, “Beta, I apologise,” before leaving the spot. He further claimed that the person involved in the dispute was a Congress worker and could be seen in the video issuing threats about “coming to power and teaching a lesson.” Rathore left Congress and joined BJP, first-time MLA Mohan Singh Rathore is considered a supporter of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. He joined the BJP along with Scindia after leaving Congress. In the 2023 Assembly elections, the BJP fielded him from Bhitarwar, where he defeated former minister Lakhan Singh Yadav. Rathore had earlier held positions including rural district president during his time in Congress.
