In Madhya Pradesh’s Datia district, under Sevda police station limits, a 55-year-old man died by suicide after shooting himself with his licensed rifle following a domestic dispute on Sunday afternoon in Rasulpura village. The incident took place in front of his elder brother, triggering panic in the village. Police reached the spot immediately after receiving information and seized the weapon, launching an investigation. According to police, the deceased has been identified as Jasram Gurjar (55), son of Mathura Prasad Gurjar, a resident of Rasulpura. Family members said Jasram was addicted to alcohol and often created disturbances at home in an intoxicated state. On Sunday afternoon as well, a dispute broke out within the family over a certain issue. Shot himself with licensed 315-bore rifle According to relatives, the argument escalated and family members, including his elder brother, tried to calm him down, but he did not agree. After this, Jasram took out his licensed 315-bore rifle and came out of the house. Seeing the weapon, family members tried to stop and persuade him, but he was not in a state to listen to anyone. During this, he placed the rifle on his head and pulled the trigger. He fell nearly six feet away into a drain after being shot. Panic after firing in village The incident happened so suddenly that people present at the spot could not understand what had happened initially. Jasram died on the spot. After the firing, chaos spread in the area and a large crowd gathered. Police were informed soon after. SDOP Ajay Chanana said that police reached the spot after receiving information. The licensed 315-bore rifle has been seized and the body has been sent for post-mortem. Statements of family members and locals are being recorded. He further said that around 3 pm, Jasram, in an intoxicated condition, was creating disturbance in the locality. When his elder brother Santosh Gurjar and other family members tried to stop and calm him down, he reportedly said that if they had a problem with him, he would end his life. Shortly after this, he shot himself with his licensed firearm and died on the spot. Worked in a private mine in Bhind Jasram Gurjar was the middle among three brothers. His elder brother is Santosh Gurjar and younger brother is Arvind Gurjar. The firearm used in the incident was registered in Jasram’s name. According to information, he worked at a private mine in Bhind district and used to visit his village from time to time. Police have sent the body for post-mortem and seized the rifle. A detailed investigation into the cause of death is underway. In the preliminary probe, domestic dispute and intoxication are being considered the main reasons. However, police are recording statements and investigating all aspects of the case.
