Panic broke out in Indore’s Bhanwarkuan area on Thursday afternoon after a moving Hyundai i20 car suddenly caught fire. The incident occurred on the flyover near Atal Bihari College. Fire brigade and police teams rushed to the spot after receiving information about the blaze. Traffic on one side of the flyover had to be temporarily stopped during the firefighting operation. According to the fire brigade, the incident took place at around 12:30 pm. The car, owned by Dharmendra Goyal, was passing over the flyover when smoke suddenly started billowing from the bonnet. After noticing the smoke, the driver immediately stopped the vehicle and got out safely. Flames engulfed the vehicle Eyewitnesses said the fire spread rapidly and engulfed the front portion of the car within minutes. The flames intensified quickly and the vehicle was soon completely ablaze. After receiving the alert, a fire brigade team reached the spot and began efforts to extinguish the fire. However, by the time firefighters arrived, a major portion of the car had already been destroyed. The situation was brought under control after the blaze was extinguished. As a precautionary measure, traffic on one side of the flyover was halted for some time, leading to minor congestion in the area. Traffic movement was restored after the fire was brought under control. Preliminary findings suggest that a technical fault in the vehicle may have triggered the fire. However, the exact cause is yet to be established and is being investigated. No injuries were reported in the incident, but the car was completely damaged.
