Mauganj Police in Madhya Pradesh allegedly registered fake complaints on the CM Helpline-181 portal by posing as complainants to improve its ranking. The complaints were reportedly resolved immediately after being filed to show better performance figures. The revelation emerged during an investigation by Bhaskar Digital. The investigation uncovered records that have raised serious questions over Mauganj Police’s functioning. Data showed that 233 complaints were registered using just 21 mobile numbers. In several cases, multiple serious complaints were uploaded under the same names within minutes of each other. The records also revealed the names of Dial-112 employees and police personnel as complainants. In one instance, a man who is unmarried was shown as having filed a complaint about his 20-year-old daughter going missing. Bhaskar’s probe found the names of Dial-112 driver Pravesh Chaturvedi, Dial-112 employee Krishna Kushwaha and Head Constable Vivek Yadav in the records. Head Constable Vivek Yadav has since been attached to the police lines, while the Rewa Zone IG has ordered an inquiry. Read this report based on documents and complaint records that came to light in Bhaskar’s investigation Read the findings based on documents and complaint records examined during the investigation: Complaints did not follow normal procedure Filing a complaint on the CM Helpline requires details of the incident and complainant. However, the investigation found that standard procedures were allegedly not followed properly in several cases. Pattern understood from 4 cases Case 1: Unmarried man shown as father of a 20-year-old missing daughter One of the most surprising cases involved Ankit Chaurasia. A complaint filed in his name stated that his 20-year-old daughter Anshika had gone missing after going to school and that police was not registering an FIR. When Bhaskar’s team contacted Chaurasia, he reportedly said he had never been married. Therefore, the claim of having a 20-year-old daughter was impossible. This became the first major indication of discrepancies between records and reality. According to the data, five separate complaints were registered in his name within just four minutes. The first complaint was filed at 11:30 am, followed by four more complaints within the next three minutes. The role of Dayashankar Tiwari, a private driver assigned to the police station in-charge’s official vehicle, has also come under scrutiny. Records show he appeared as a witness in some cases.
