A four-year-old girl died and four members of her family sustained serious burn injuries after a powerful explosion brought down a house in Gudar village of Madhya Pradesh’s Shivpuri district on Wednesday morning. The deceased, identified as Jaanvi Prajapati, was trapped under the debris and engulfed by flames when the roof and walls of the house collapsed following the blast. The injured were initially taken to Shivpuri Medical College and later referred to Gwalior for specialised treatment. According to Khaniadana police, the incident occurred around 8:30 am while Roshni Prajapati was preparing breakfast on an LPG stove. Her daughter Jaanvi was asleep on a bed inside the house, while her one-and-a-half-year-old son Shiva and a teenage neighbour were also present indoors. Family elder Phool Singh Prajapati was sitting outside at the time. Witnesses said a deafening explosion was followed by flames shooting several feet into the air as the structure crumbled, triggering panic across the village. In an attempt to rescue those trapped inside, Phool Singh rushed into the burning house but suffered burns himself. Villagers immediately launched rescue efforts and alerted the police and local administration. Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion. Police and Fire Brigade took charge As soon as information about the incident was received, the police and fire brigade team reached the spot. After much effort, the fire was brought under control. After this, the work of removing debris was started with the help of a JCB machine. During debris removal, the body of 4-year-old Janvi was recovered. Whether cylinder exploded or fire broke out in petrol-diesel, investigation ongoing In the preliminary investigation, different suspicions are emerging regarding the causes of the incident. It is being reported that Pransingh operated a grocery store and also sold diesel-petrol in the open. There is a suspicion that an explosion occurred due to fire in flammable materials kept at home. Meanwhile, information has also come to light that food was being cooked with one gas cylinder at home and two other cylinders were also kept there. Villagers say that one of these cylinders may have exploded. However, the administration says that the actual causes of the explosion can only be confirmed after the investigation is complete. During debris removal, it has also come to light that one cylinder was not found, which has raised several questions. Collector, SP and MLA Reached the Spot As soon as information about the accident was received, Shivpuri Collector Arpit Verma, SP Yangchen Dolkar Bhutia, MLA Pritam Lodhi along with a team of administrative officers reached the spot. The officers inspected the incident site and gathered information about rescue and relief operations. Collector Arpit Verma stated that preliminary investigation suggests the possibility of fire in diesel-petrol stored in the house followed by an explosion. He said that all the injured have been sent to Gwalior for better treatment and a Tehsildar has also been sent along with them. The administration is continuously monitoring the entire matter. Suspicion of Short Circuit and Fire Spread as Well At the local level, it has also come to light that breakfast was being prepared on a gas stove at the time of the incident. During this, there are suspicions of a fire breaking out and a short circuit occurring. It is being reported that the fire engulfed the diesel-petrol stored in the house, which caused a massive explosion and the entire house was damaged. However, police and administration are investigating all possible causes. All four injured critical, referred to Gwalior According to Dr. Ashutosh Chaurasia, Superintendent of Shivpuri Medical College, among those injured in the accident, Roushani Prajapati has suffered approximately 40 to 50 percent burns, Shiv Prajapati (1 year) 50 to 60 percent, Ankesh (10 years) 80 to 85 percent, and Pran Singh Prajapati 60 to 70 percent burns. Considering the critical condition of all four, after primary treatment, they have been referred to Jayarogya Hospital (JAH) Gwalior. Meanwhile, police and administration are engaged in investigating the actual causes of the accident.
