11 June, 2026, around 2:30 pm. Suddenly, gunshots rang out inside Parsamaniya Garhi, the fort of the Nagod royal family in Madhya Pradesh. Panic gripped the area for a few moments as people rushed out of the premises. A woman, bleeding profusely, was immediately taken to a hospital. The injured woman was Yogita Singh, daughter-in-law of the Nagod royal family. Yogita is the wife of Rupendra Singh alias Baba Raja, a member of the royal family and nephew of BJP MLA Nagendra Singh. Police have arrested Sunita Parihar on charges of firing the shot that injured Yogita. During her arrest, Sunita was seen smiling at the police station. She is alleged to be Rupendra Singh’s girlfriend, and reports suggest the two have been in a relationship for the past 6 to 7 years. People close to the family claim that this was when Sunita Parihar entered Rupendra Singh’s life. Following this, differences between the husband and wife gradually widened, and the dispute continued to intensify. Couple began living separately after Sunita’s entry For the first three to four years, Rupendra Singh and Sunita reportedly lived together in a flat in Lotus City, Satna. During the same period, Yogita stayed at Parsamaniya Garhi with her son. Family sources say Rupendra spent most of his time with Sunita, further straining his relationship with his wife. Yogita’s mother, Narendra Kumari, alleges that Sunita moved into Parsamaniya Garhi about three years ago after the death of Baba Raja’s father. According to her, tensions among Yogita, Rupendra and Sunita escalated sharply after that. The situation eventually became so strained that Yogita had to leave the fort and move to a house at Nagod Fort. Family members reportedly made several attempts to broker a settlement, but none of the discussions led to a resolution. Husband and wife started living separately For the initial 3 to 4 years, Rupendra Singh and Sunita lived together in a flat in Lotus City, Satna. Meanwhile, Yogita lived with her son in Parsamniya Garhi. During this period, Baba Raja spent most of his time with Sunita, which further soured the relationship between husband and wife. Yogita’s mother, Narendra Kumari, alleges that 3 years ago, after Baba Raja’s father’s demise, Sunita came to live in Parsamniya Garhi. After this, the conflict between Yogita, Rupendra, and Sunita reached its peak. The situation became such that Yogita had to leave the Garhi and live in a house located at Nagod Fort. Family members tried to mediate several times, but each time the talks could not reach a conclusion. Family members came from Udaipur to save daughter’s home Yogita’s maternal home is in Udaipur, Rajasthan, where her family is also considered to be connected to the royal family. According to relatives, they hoped that the years-old dispute could be resolved through dialogue. With this purpose, Yogita’s parents, brother, and other relatives reached Nagod from Udaipur. On Thursday, all the people reached Parasmaniya Garhi, where Baba Raja and Sunita were already present. Initially, the atmosphere was normal. The conversation also started in a calm manner, but after some time, a debate started over old disputes. In no time, there was a commotion. She also alleged that Baba Raja was present at the spot during the firing and was instigating Sunita. There had been disputes between the two women several times before. Last year, too, Sunita had assaulted Yogita twice. Chaos erupted as soon as the shot was fired As soon as the sound of firing was heard, people present in the fort rushed towards the incident site. There was panic throughout the premises. The injured Yogita was immediately taken to the hospital. She was first taken to Satna, but due to her critical condition, she was referred to Vindhya Multi Speciality Hospital in Rewa. Doctors operated on her late into the night. Yogita regained consciousness on Friday morning. According to hospital sources, she is currently out of danger, but is still being kept under doctors’ observation. Relatives enraged after daughter-in-law was shot After the incident, family members and relatives present at the fort became agitated. According to sources, angry relatives beat up Baba Raja. For some time, the situation became so tense that people present there had to intervene. After the firing incident, police arrested Sunita Parihar. The licensed rifle used in the incident has also been seized. Questions also being raised about police attitude Police arrested Sunita, but Yogita’s family members are raising questions about the special treatment given to her at the police station. Additional Superintendent of Police of Satna Rural, Prem Lal Kurve, said that a case has been registered against Sunita Singh under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
