Exports of agricultural, food and engineering products from Bhopal are rising steadily. Exports of agricultural and food products from the city have crossed ₹820 crore. Over the past four years, the district’s total exports have increased by 118%, rising from ₹1,062.89 crore to ₹2,323.58 crore. This growth has helped Bhopal emerge as one of Madhya Pradesh’s leading export hubs. Agricultural exports witness sharp growth in four years In 2021-22, agricultural exports from the district were worth around ₹138 crore. Bhopal is exporting bananas, soybean meal, basmati rice and grapes to overseas markets. Engineering products see strong demand across markets Power transformers, turbine and generator components, bearing housings and other electrical equipment are also witnessing strong demand abroad. Bhopal products now reach several global destinations Products from Bhopal are currently being exported to several countries, including Iraq, France, Kenya, Bangladesh, Nepal, Germany, the United Arab Emirates, the United States, Uzbekistan and Egypt. Collector Priyank Mishra said that the quality and competitiveness of local industries have enabled Bhopal’s products to reach markets across the world. The district administration, the MSME Department, MPIDC and DGFT are working together to connect local industries with global markets. Export target set to double by 2030 The Collector said that industrial housing, slum rehabilitation, public transport and future urban development plans will accelerate the city’s growth and help industries access a better-skilled workforce. MPIDC Executive Director Vishal Singh Chauhan said that Bhopal currently exports around $30 million worth of textiles, garments and other products every year. The target is to increase this to $60 million by 2030. The Centre has also set a target of raising the state’s exports from $240 million to $500 million.
