Just a day before her death, Constable Nisha Sharma had spoken to her father and assured him that everything was fine. But on Tuesday morning, the 29-year-old police constable was found dead in her government quarter after allegedly hanging herself with a bedsheet tied to a ceiling fan. Her father, Ashok Kumar Sharma, a resident of Ashoknagar, recalled their last conversation and broke down while speaking about his daughter. He said Nisha had always been dedicated to her work and was proud of becoming a police officer. He remembered how enthusiastic she was after joining the force and how committed she remained to her duties. According to police, Nisha Sharma died by suicide on Tuesday (June 9). Nisha was the eldest of four siblings. She had two younger sisters and the youngest brother. Both sisters were married. The youngest brother was studying. She used to say – I will not marry, I will serve my parents Nisha’s father said that four years ago, he had talked about her marriage, but she flatly refused. No suicide note found at the scene The reasons for her suicide could not be ascertained. No suicide note was found at the scene, and no information came to light indicating that she was in any trouble. Before committing suicide, she made and ate Poha on Tuesday morning. Poha utensils were found in the kitchen. She spoke on the phone around 7 AM. Police broke open the door and entered around 12 PM. It is suspected that she hanged herself between 7 and 8 AM, as gas had started forming in the body. Gas formation in the body typically begins three to four hours after death.
