mp-woman-police-officer-conquers-mount-kilimanjaro:scales-tanzania’s-5,865-metre-volcanic-peak;-creates-history

Inspector Deepika Gautam of Madhya Pradesh Police has created history by scaling Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. She has become the first woman officer from Madhya Pradesh Police to successfully climb the world-famous mountain. Deepika, who is posted at the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB) at Police Headquarters in Bhopal, reached the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro on May 29. The mountain stands at about 5,895 metres above sea level. Her achievement is considered special because she was the only participant from India in the international expedition. The successful climb marks a major milestone for both the officer and Madhya Pradesh Police. ‘Did not leave dreams behind’ Deepika says that people often leave their dreams behind amidst job and family responsibilities, but she did not do so. She believes that “life is incomplete without dreams,” and this very thought led her to Kilimanjaro. Five-day arduous expedition The climb to Kilimanjaro was a difficult five-day journey, in which the final ascent began at night after crossing three base camps. During this time, the temperature reached minus 10 to 15 degrees. The weather was also extremely uncertain, changing every moment. Has done many treks before Although this was her first major international mountain expedition, she had previously completed religious treks like Amarnath and Kedarnath multiple times. Describing herself as a multi-tasker, Deepika believes in constantly embracing new challenges. Next Mission Soon After this achievement, her next goal is also set, although she has not yet made it public. She has hinted that she might go on another mountain expedition abroad next year.
