In Ratlam city, cunning fraudsters tricked a retired teacher by engaging her in conversation and stole her bag filled with gold jewelry, cash, and a mobile phone. The entire incident was captured by CCTV cameras installed in the area. The incident occurred on the evening of June 7, while its CCTV footage emerged on Monday night. According to information, Mohini Raichandani (72), a resident of Mitra Niwas Colony, has filed a complaint at the Station Road police station. Mohini told the police that she was going from her home to the Gurudwara located in Shastri Nagar. During this, two youths she met engaged her in conversation, lured her into their trap, and fled with her purse. Both told her that thieves and pickpockets are roaming in the area nowadays and it is not safe to go out wearing gold ornaments. They advised that the ornaments should be taken off and kept in a bag. The culprits spoke with such ease and confidence that the woman found their words convincing and trusted them. Got the gold mangalsutra removed and kept in the bag Believing the young men, Mohini Raichandani took off a gold mangalsutra weighing about one tola and put it in her bag. After this, she proceeded towards the Gurudwara. According to Mohini, she had only walked about 10 to 15 steps from there when the same two young men approached her again. Told the elderly woman – give us the bag, we will return it later Both accused told the woman to give them the bag, saying they would keep it safe and return it later. The elderly woman fell for their trick and handed over her bag to them. As soon as they got the bag in their hands, both accused fled from the spot. Before the woman could understand anything, they had already gone quite far. The bag contained a mangalsutra, mobile, and two thousand cash The woman told the police that besides a one-tola mangalsutra, the bag also contained a gold patli weighing about one and a half tolas, a keypad mobile phone, and approximately two thousand rupees in cash. After reaching home, she narrated the entire incident to her family members, after which a complaint was lodged at the police station. After this, all four fled on different bikes. Both the accused who were riding the bikes were wearing helmets. Based on the footage, the police suspect that four people were involved in the incident.
