Bhopal, the state capital, witnessed a unique blend of fitness, energy, and enthusiasm on Saturday night. The “Velocity Night Run 2026”, organised by Rabindranath Tagore University (RNTU), kept the TT Nagar Stadium illuminated and echoing with music and thousands of running footsteps late into the night. The event, which began at 6:30 pm, continued with full energy and excitement until midnight. The event was inaugurated by Madhya Pradesh Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang, who flagged it off. Director of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department, Anshuman Yadav, was also present on the occasion. A key highlight was the participation of people across age groups—from 8-year-old children to senior citizens aged 70—who ran with equal enthusiasm. This wide participation turned the event into not just a sporting activity but a major fitness awareness campaign. TT Nagar Stadium transformed into a vibrant venue with attractive lighting, background music, and the energy of runners on the track. Participants showcased their endurance and fitness in 1-hour, 2-hour, and 3-hour categories. Colour-coded lanes and well-organised arrangements ensured safety and discipline throughout the event. Chief guest Vishwas Sarang said that fitness is no longer limited to athletes but has become a necessity for every citizen. He stressed that such events are essential to connect youth with sports and fitness. Anshuman Yadav also described sports as an important medium for personality development and leadership skills, urging young people to regularly take part in fitness activities. RNTU Pro-Chancellor Dr. Aditi Chaturvedi Vats called the initiative a meaningful step towards a ‘Fit and Healthy India’. Registrar Dr. Sangeeta Johri said such events play a key role in developing discipline, teamwork, and self-confidence among youth.
