The Congress party is expected to announce its candidate for the upcoming Rajya Sabha election from Madhya Pradesh within the next two days, as discussions among senior leaders continue in New Delhi. Nominations for the three Rajya Sabha seats from the Madhya Pradesh quota can be filed until June 8. Currently, two of these seats are held by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), while one belongs to Congress. Current representation From the BJP, Union Minister of State George Kurian and Dr. Sumer Singh Solanki are serving as Rajya Sabha members. Congress’ seat is currently held by Digvijaya Singh, who is serving his second term in the Upper House. Digvijaya Singh opts out of contest Digvijaya Singh has already declined to contest the Rajya Sabha election this time, creating a vacancy for the Congress nomination. As a result, extensive deliberations are underway among party leaders in Delhi regarding the selection of a suitable candidate. Multiple rounds of meetings were scheduled on Thursday as well. According to party sources, several aspirants have been camping in Delhi over the past few days in an effort to secure the nomination. Sources said Congress legislators have started signing blank nomination forms as proposers, a procedural step required for the party’s eventual candidate.
