A woman from Madhya Pradesh’s Chhatarpur district has died from severe burn injuries after allegedly being set on fire by her live-in partner. The incident took place on May 17, when Manoj Kushwah allegedly poured petrol on the woman, identified as Pushpa, and set her alight. She had been receiving treatment in the burn unit of Gwalior’s Jayarogya Hospital but succumbed to her injuries on Monday. Before her death, a video statement of Pushpa surfaced in which she alleged that Manoj Kushwah had poured petrol on her and set her on fire. Couple had been in a live-in relationship for 4 years The incident occurred in Guda Khurd village under the Chandla police station area. According to police, Pushpa and Manoj Kushwah had been living together in a live-in relationship for the past four years and have a child together. Family members said the dispute began when Pushpa asked Manoj for cooking oil to prepare vegetables. An argument reportedly broke out between the two over the issue. During the altercation, Manoj allegedly poured petrol on Pushpa and set her alight. Despite the allegations, Manoj himself took the severely burnt woman to the burn ward of Jayarogya Hospital in Gwalior before fleeing the scene. Pushpa’s family later lodged a complaint at Chandla police station. Sister alleges accused had previously burnt two women Pushpa’s elder sister, Sangeeta Ahirwar, claimed that Manoj had previously set two other women on fire. According to Sangeeta, Manoj first married a woman named Gudia from the same village and allegedly burnt her as well. After that, Manoj started living with my sister Pushpa, and now he has killed her too. Accused arrested and sent to jail Chandla police station in-charge Sudha Shukla said Manoj Kushwah has been arrested in connection with the case and sent to jail. Meanwhile, Gwalior’s Kampu police registered a case of unnatural death following Pushpa’s death. After the post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to her family.
