sachin-tendulkar-advocates-for-sooryavanshi-in-front-of-ajit-agarkar:’enjoy-him,-not-put-pressure’-cricket-god-extends-support-for-15-year-old

Despite Rajasthan Royals being eliminated from the IPL final race and the summit clash between RCB and GT today, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is still the talk of the town. Speaking at the Cricinfo Honours, cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar backed the fast-tracking of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in the Team India set-up. Often referred to as the ‘God of Cricket’, Sachin was asked if Vaibhav should be in India’s red-ball squad. However, Tendulkar did not give away himself in the heat of the moment, especially in front of Team India head selector Ajit Agarkar, but he did mention that a talent like that of Sooryavanshi needs to be encouraged and free from any kind of pressure. Sachin Tendulkar admits he would like to see Sooryavanshi play Test for India When asked if Sachin Tendulkar would like the youngster to play Test cricket for India, the cricket legend smartly backed the 15-year-old. Since Team India chief selector Ajit Agarkar also attended the ESPN Cricinfo awards, Sachin laughed off before launching a jibe, “When Ajit is sitting here, I’d better be careful what I am saying, I’m not a selector.” However, he did not mince his words when he added, “Not just me, but everyone would want to see him at some stage. Don’t know when it’s gonna happen, but an exciting talent needs encouragement. We need to enjoy him above all and not put pressure on him constantly. You should play there, shouldn’t be doing this, should be picked in that squad, leave that to the guys who are responsible for that.” ‘Wouldn’t play with his instincts’: Sachin reveals coaching map for Vaibhav Speaking about Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s batting style, Sachin said that the RR prodigy is the kind of player who looks very confident, very sure of what he wants to do. The former Indian cricketer then added, “I wouldn’t want to play around with his natural instincts because the way he sees the ball and the way he responds to that, if that signal is interrupted by telling him multiple things, that’s where the real challenge would be. I would give him the freedom to go out and bat the way he does.” Sachin favoured that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi should keep up with his natural game and have a solution-oriented mindset. The former cricketer did not mince his words when he said that the 15-year-old will face challenges in his career, but praised the RR prodigy’s clear approach and certainty toward his template of cricket.
