A young woman, whose father and brother were arrested on murder charges, has unexpectedly returned alive in Burhanpur district of Madhya Pradesh. On the night of May 27, she reached Khaknar police station and told officers, “Sir, I am alive… please release my father and brother.” Khaknar police station in-charge Abhishek Jadhav said Shivani had gone missing on April 24. Despite extensive searches by the family, no trace was found, following which a missing person report was lodged at Khaknar police station on May 1. During the investigation, police also traced a young man named Arjun from the same area as missing, with reports suggesting both had been together. Arjun’s missing report was filed on May 9. Meanwhile, a decapitated and burnt female body was recovered in the Jalgaon Jamod area of Maharashtra. As the body could not be identified, Maharashtra police acted on CCTNS records and reached Burhanpur. Based on information shared by Khaknar police, the unidentified body was presumed to be Shivani. Following this, Shivani’s father Bapurao and brother Ajay were arrested on murder charges and sent to Buldhana jail. Shivani came forward when she learned about her father and brother’s arrest The case took a new turn when Shivani learned that her father and brother were in jail on charges of her murder. After this, she contacted her family members. Upon receiving the information, Khaknar police traced Shivani and Arjun. Shivani told the police that she had left with Arjun on April 24 and both of them are alive. She said that she wants to get her father and brother released from jail. Identification through thumb impression and government ID, father to be released According to the TI, Shivani was identified through thumb impression and government identity cards. A panchnama was prepared in the presence of family members and relatives to confirm that she is indeed Shivani. On Wednesday night, Maharashtra Police took Shivani and Arjun with them to Jalgaon Jamod. Now the legal process for the release of her father and brother will be initiated. Whose was the burnt body? Investigation to be conducted afresh After Shivani came forward alive, the biggest question now is whose was the decapitated and burnt body found in Maharashtra? Khaknar police say that the entire case will now be investigated afresh and the truth of the whole sequence of events will be brought to light along with the identification of the unknown body.
