A shocking CCTV video has surfaced from Rewa showing three Jain nuns being hit by a speeding car while they were peacefully walking along the roadside near the Collectorate area. Two of the nuns have died in the incident, while another remains critically injured. The video, which surfaced on Saturday, has triggered outrage within the Jain community, which has now announced peaceful nationwide protests on May 25. First, see three pictures of the accident Nuns were walking along the roadside when car hit them According to eyewitnesses and police, the three Jain nuns were travelling on foot on the afternoon of May 20, following the traditional Jain practice of walking pilgrimage along the roadside. A speeding, allegedly uncontrolled car suddenly rammed into them from behind. Pujya Shruti Mati Mata died on the spot, while Upsamiti Mata succumbed to injuries at Sanjay Gandhi Hospital. Another nun, Aryika Mata, is currently undergoing treatment in hospital and remains in critical condition. Local residents immediately rushed the injured victims to hospital after the accident, but one of the nuns had already died by then. Driver fled nearly 270 kilometres before arrest Instead of stopping after the collision, the driver allegedly sped away from the scene. Police said the accused fled nearly 270 kilometres from Rewa before being tracked down. Acting on inputs from Rewa Police, the Bargi police team in Jabalpur laid a trap and arrested the accused driver near the Bahoripar toll plaza. Senior officials, including Commissioner BS Jamod, Deputy Commissioner Narendra Suryavanshi and SP Gurukaran Singh, visited both the hospital and the accident site following the incident. Jain community demands high-level judicial probe The Jain community has raised serious concerns before the government and administration, saying the incident may involve gross negligence or a larger conspiracy. Community members have demanded: Community leaders also said that if any conspiracy is established during the investigation, those responsible should face the strictest possible punishment, including capital punishment. Nationwide protest and silent march announced As part of the protest against the incident, demonstrations are scheduled to be held across different parts of India on May 25. In Khandwa, the Sakal Jain Samaj has announced a large silent march beginning at 8 am. The rally will start from Mahavir Udyan Kirti Stambh and pass through Ghantaghar, Mumbai Bazaar and Phool Gali before reaching the Police Control Room. At the conclusion of the march, a memorandum addressed to the Prime Minister, Home Minister and Chief Minister will be submitted through the district collector. Jain community leaders, including Virendra Jain, Sunil Jain, Dilip Pahadia, Sanjay Jain and Vikas Bothra, have appealed to all sections of society and women members of the community to participate in large numbers.
