A sharp reaction has now come from the Sant Samaj over the much-discussed Twisha Sharma suicide case in the capital. Swami Harshanand Giri (formerly Harsha Richhariya) has strongly criticised the dowry system, calling it a major reason behind the deaths of daughters. He said that recent cases such as Twisha Sharma, Palak and Deepika have shaken society, where greed for dowry has emerged as the main factor. Swami Harshanand Giri said, “Parents send their daughters to their in-laws’ home believing they have given enough, but there is no limit to the greed for dowry. When this greed increases, it ultimately ends the daughter’s life.” Victim Suffocates Every Day Before Death He said that women who take such extreme steps like suicide do not make this decision in a single day, but suffer long-term mental and physical harassment. “A person who embraces death is actually dying every single day before that, suffering and suffocating daily.” Character assassination allegations even after death Swami Harshanand Giri also alleged that in many cases, after the death of the victim, attempts are made by the in-laws to defame her by questioning her character, upbringing and family background. He called this a “second punishment” that the family of the deceased has to endure. Wrong message to society, women should not be afraid He said that such cases against women have been coming up for a long time in society, but despite this, women should not feel afraid. He also questioned the mindset of some sections of society, saying that after a few cases, a wrong perception is created about the entire community. Family has to fight a second battle for justice Swami Harshanand Giri said that the most painful aspect is that even after losing their daughter, parents are forced to fight a long legal and social battle for justice. “They have to struggle again to prove their daughter innocent and ensure punishment for the guilty.” Post navigation Car crushes 3 female religious leaders:1 dead, 2 seriously injured in Rewa; driver arrested after 270km escape 18 students identified over DAVV hostel ruckus:Notices to be issued, semi-nude dance videos go viral
