In Indore, 18 students involved in dancing semi-nude and vandalising property at the IET department hostel of Devi Ahilya University have been identified so far. Efforts are underway to identify more students involved in the incident. Notices will be issued collectively once all students are identified. Final-year students have also been barred from appearing in their last examination for now. Their exams will be conducted only after the inquiry is completed. A few days ago, final-year students created chaos at Ramanujan Boys Hostel-B of IET. They danced semi-nude to the song ‘Daaru Badnaam Kar Di’ and later vandalised hostel property, including chairs, tables, windowpanes and even a plastic water tank. Videos of the incident also went viral on social media. After the videos surfaced, the university administration swung into action. The disciplinary committee held an emergency meeting and decided on actions including a ₹25,000 penalty per student, barring them from appearing in the final exam and withholding their results. 18 Students Have Been Identified IET Director Pratosh Bansal said 18 students involved in the vandalism at the hostel have already been identified. Other students are also being identified. Notices will be issued to all students once the identification process is complete. A penalty of ₹25,000 will be imposed on each student. However, he said that despite the incident, no parent of any student has yet approached the university administration. He said the identification process could take another two to three days, as many students are visible in the video. Some were only dancing, while the administration plans to take action only against those involved in vandalism. Around 150 students stay in the hostel.
