A postgraduate medical student died after falling from the fifth floor of the boys’ hostel at MGM Medical College in Indore on late Sunday night. Police are investigating the case from both suicide and accidental death angles. As per the information, the body of the doctor was found around 2 am between Sunday and Monday near Block Number-5 of the MGM Boys’ Hostel campus. The incident created panic and shock among students residing in the hostel. Final-year PG student from Medicine department The deceased has been identified as Dr Aman Patel (30), a final-year postgraduate student from the 2023 batch of the Medicine Department. His PG course was scheduled to conclude within the next few months. Dr Patel had completed his MBBS studies in Jabalpur and was originally a resident of the city. His father’s name is Sushil Patel. Police investigating both suicide and accident angles After receiving information about the incident, the Sanyogitaganj police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The body has been sent for postmortem examination. Police said no suicide note was recovered from the scene. Officials stated that both suicide and accidental fall possibilities are being investigated. Further action will be taken based on the postmortem report and other evidence collected during the inquiry. College mourns death of student The MGM Medical College administration described Dr Aman Patel as a calm, talented and dedicated student. Officials said his death has left the college community and the medical fraternity in mourning. Friends remember him as calm and professionally sound Dr Prakalp Gupta, a close friend of Dr Aman Patel, said he was deeply shocked after learning about the incident. He said both of them had completed their MBBS studies together in Jabalpur. According to Dr Gupta, Aman was professionally sound and known for his calm nature. “It is hard to believe that he is no longer with us,” he said.
