After days of storm and rain, a heatwave has gripped Madhya Pradesh. Its impact was visible in Ratlam and Jhabua on Monday, with Ratlam recording a scorching 45°C. The Meteorological Department has issued a heatwave alert for six districts on Tuesday, Ujjain, Dhar, Alirajpur, Barwani, Ratlam, and Jhabua. According to the India Meteorological Department centre in Bhopal, heatwave conditions are expected to affect the Indore, Ujjain, and Narmadapuram divisions for the next four days, with maximum temperatures likely to touch 45°C. Ratlam, Neemuch, and Mandsaur in the Ujjain division are expected to remain the hottest. Along with the heatwave alert, severe heat conditions are likely to prevail in 49 districts, including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, and Gwalior, where temperatures are expected to remain between 43°C and 44°C. Mercury at 45 degrees in Ratlam for the second consecutive day On Monday, the mercury in Ratlam was recorded at 45 degrees. For the second consecutive day, the mercury in Ratlam has been 45 degrees or more. In Indore, the mercury reached a record 43.2 degrees Celsius. This was the highest this season. Whereas, last year on May 1, the mercury was 42 degrees. This shows that the heat in Indore is even more than last year. In Ujjain, the maximum temperature was recorded at 43 degrees, in Bhopal at 41.2 degrees, in Jabalpur at 40.8 degrees, and in Gwalior at 39 degrees Celsius. Talking about other cities, after Ratlam, Shajapur recorded the highest mercury at 44.2 degrees on Monday. Dhar recorded 44 degrees, Khargone 42.6 degrees, Khandwa 42.5 degrees, Guna 41.5 degrees, Raisen, Sagar, Narmadapuram-Sheopur 41.4 degrees, Narsinghpur 41 degrees, Khajuraho 40.9 degrees, Chhindwara 40.7 degrees, Damoh 40.5 degrees, Mandla 40.4 degrees, and Betul-Naugaon recorded a temperature of 40 degrees. The spell of storms and rain had started in the state from April 30. It rained in the state for 11 consecutive days, i.e., till May 10. Sometimes the effect of Western Disturbance (Western Disturbance) was seen, and sometimes that of cyclones and troughs. Because of this, it rained in the first week of May.
