A farmer was allegedly abducted in broad daylight in Madhya Pradesh’s Sehore district on Tuesday morning. The incident took place in the Bilkisganj police station area when the elderly man was on his way to a temple. The victim was identified as Premsing Mewada, a resident of Dhabla Kelwadi village. According to family members, at around 9:10 am, Premsing called his son Jagdish Mewada in a panic and said that some men were forcibly taking him away in a car. The call got disconnected immediately afterwards. Son rushed to spot after distress call After the phone call, Jagdish Mewada reached the spot along with his brothers Gulab Singh and Vikram Singh. Near Rajput Dhaba on the Sehore-Bhopal highway, labourers told the family that masked men arrived in a white car, dragged the farmer inside the vehicle and fled towards Bhopal. Family members said the elderly man had left home to visit a temple before he was allegedly kidnapped. Family alleges old rivalry behind kidnapping The family suspects that an old enmity and land dispute may be behind the incident. In the complaint submitted to police, the names of Kapil Sharma, Dev Narayan alias Gudda and Manish Parmar have been mentioned. According to relatives, there has been a long-running dispute over a land deal and the kidnapping was allegedly carried out due to the conflict. Accused had faces covered, say police Police officials said eyewitnesses reported that the accused had towels wrapped around their faces and were travelling in a white car. The registration number of the vehicle has not been identified so far. An FIR has been registered and police teams are examining CCTV footage from the highway and nearby areas. Technical evidence, including mobile phone locations, is also being analysed to trace the suspects and the vehicle. Police have intensified the search operation by setting up checkpoints across the district. Tension grips village after incident The incident has created tension in the village, with residents demanding the immediate arrest of the accused and the safe recovery of the farmer. Villagers warned that they would launch a protest if prompt action is not taken by the administration.
