In Pipariya, Narmadapuram district, a leopard attacked 13-year-old Satyam Thakur. The child, showing presence of mind and courage, grabbed the leopard’s neck and pushed it away, saving his life. The incident occurred on Saturday evening in Kursi Khapa village, Pipariya Forest Beat. According to Satyam, an eighth class student, I was playing near the farm well when a leopard emerged from the bushes and attacked me. I grabbed the leopard’s neck. Its claws dug into my stomach and leg. I screamed loudly, and then my father and others ran to save me. I held the leopard’s neck and pushed it back. Hearing the family members’ screams, the leopard ran towards the forest. The leopard’s claws left marks on his hands and feet. Child survives leopard attack near home The child’s father, Mahendra Thakur, said that the leopard had attacked a short distance from the house. Ranger Rekha Thakur and Forest Guard Barvendra Uike praised the child’s courage, saying that a major incident was averted. After the attack, the child was taken to Pipariya Hospital, where Dr. Syed Karim gave him primary treatment. The child’s condition is reported to be stable. The Forest Department has provided an amount of one thousand rupees for primary treatment and assured that the additional expenses incurred on treatment will be paid upon submission of the bill.
