Jabalpur court has ordered an FIR against the cruise pilot and staff in the Bargi Dam accident. The court of Judicial Magistrate First Class DP Sutrakar took suo motu cognizance of the matter and said the pilot negligently operated the cruise, which caused the accident and led to the death of many people. The court said on Tuesday that the pilot was familiar with the cruise’s operations, but he safely exited, leaving the people on board to drown. This falls under the category of crime under sections 106 and 110 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023. If an FIR is not registered and investigated in this matter, then in the future too, people operating cruises or boats may leave passengers to drown in case of an untoward incident. Such incidents may recur. Also praised those who saved lives The court said that no legal action has been taken against anyone regarding this incident so far. Not only that, the police have not yet registered an FIR against anyone. Along with this, the court directed the Jabalpur police to register an FIR in the related matter and inform the court within two days. The court also praised the people who saved the lives of tourists on the cruise. 3 employees dismissed, one suspended In the case, the services of cruise co-pilot Mahesh Patel, helper Chhotelal Gond, and ticket counter in-charge Brijendra have been terminated. Mahesh was driving the cruise before the accident. Meanwhile, Sunil Maravi, manager of Hotel Maikal Resort and Boat Club Bargi, has been suspended on charges of negligence. Regional Manager Sanjay Malhotra has been attached to the headquarters and a departmental inquiry has been initiated against him. Co-pilot said – one engine of the cruise was slow Co-pilot Mahesh Patel had told Dainik Bhaskar in an interview that the cruise was maintained 3 years ago, but one of its engines was slow. It had stopped working before the accident. Patel had also said that we had not received any instructions from above to stop cruise operations or that a yellow alert was issued. If clear instructions had been given in this regard, we would never have launched the cruise into the water.
