Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) by four wickets in match 42 of IPL 2026 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday, 30 April. With this, the Shubman Gill-led side registered their fifth win of the season. RCB, on the other hand, succumbed to their third loss after a poor display with the bat in hand. The GT vs RCB match had plenty of top moments. Let’s take a look at them. GT vs RCB Top Moments 1) Virat Kohli angrily throws ball after taking Shubman Gill Virat Kohli remains one of the feistiest competitors on a cricket field and an angry celebration after taking Shubman Gill’s catch was proof of that. Chasing just 156 to win, Gill provided GT with a flying start, hitting 43 runs in no time. This happened on the last ball of the fifth over when the GT captain struck the ball uppishly at cover and picked out Kohli, who took a simple catch. After taking the catch, Kohli threw the ball hard on the ground and celebrated aggressively as Gill returned to the pavilion. However after the match, Kohli and Gill were seen hugging each other. Kohli also appeared to tease Gill in the second innings. 2) Controversy erupts over Jason Holder’s catch, Virat Kohli argues with umpire Another top moment from the GT vs RCB featuring Kohli took the spotlight. This was after Jason Holder took a catch to dismiss RCB captain Rajat Patidar, which stirred a controversy. This happened in the eighth over when Patidar attempted a pull shot but did not make the connection he would have wanted to. And Holder, fielding in the deep square leg area, ran and took a low catch. However, the controversy arose when replays suggested that Holder might not have been in full control of the catch, as the ball likely touched the ground. Kohli had an animated chat near the boundary line with the umpire as he was given out. He believed that the catch was not clean. 3) Virat Kohli reunites with Ishant Sharma Kohli also had a reunion with his former Delhi and Team India teammate Ishant Sharma during the match. The two have played a lot of cricket together and often times, have engaged in fun on-field banters. During the first innings, the two were seen standing beside the boundary line and engaging in a discussion. Ishant is part of the GT outfit but has yet to play a game this season. 4) Virat Kohli smashes five consecutive fours in Kagiso Rabada’s over Heading into the GT vs RCB match, Kohli and Kagiso Rabada were set to have a much-anticipated showdown. And so they did. The RCB star took the attack to the GT fast bowler, hitting him for five fours in the second over of the first innings. A key feature of those boundaries was about Kohli timing the ball to perfection and peppering the off-side. Rabada, however, had the last laugh, dismissing Kohli in the fourth over. 5) Shubman Gill hits Josh Hazlewood for 24 runs in one over After Kohli took down Rabada, Gill gave RCB a taste of their own medicine by hitting Josh Hazlewood for 24 runs in one over. An elegant player in his own right, Gill smashed Hazlewood for three fours and two sixes in the second over to give GT a great start in their 156-run chase. 6) Venkatesh Iyer was hit on the elbow by the ball In the 18th over, Arshad Khan’s sharp short-pitched delivery hit Venkatesh Iyer on the elbow. He appeared to be in considerable pain thereafter. Iyer swung the bat too early while attempting a pull shot, and the ball directly struck his elbow. The physio had to come onto the field immediately. However, Iyer continued batting.
