A dispute over wheat prices at an Agricultural Produce Market in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, escalated into violence after farmers allegedly assaulted Naib Tehsildar, Harnam Singh. During the attack, his glasses were broken, and he sustained a bleeding nose. The situation intensified when police detained one farmer, but a group of protesters intervened and freed him. The incident took place around 2 pm on Wednesday at Bhitarwar Mandi, soon after the auction concluded. As officials tried to calm the agitated farmers, some turned aggressive and attacked the officer. Police later reached the spot and briefly apprehended a suspect, but amid protests and a scuffle, he escaped from custody. Officials will file an FIR against the accused Naib Tehsildar Harnam Singh has submitted an application at the police station demanding action against the accused. He says that during the counseling, three people suddenly became aggressive and assaulted him.
