Strict enforcement will once again be implemented regarding helmet wearing for 2-wheeler riders in MP. PHQ has issued directives for helmet checking through a special campaign from April 26 to May 10. During this period, challan action will be taken against those found riding two-wheelers without helmets. This campaign will be conducted under the supervision of Police Commissioners in Bhopal and Indore, and under the direction of Superintendents of Police in all districts of the state. ADG PTRI Police Headquarters Vivek Sharma has issued instructions in this regard. He stated that a major cause of increasing road accidents in the state is the disregard for traffic rules and the non-use of helmets. According to statistics, approximately 50 percent of fatalities involve two-wheeler riders who do not wear helmets. Taking this seriously, the police department has decided to enforce strict measures. Action will be taken to suspend driving license along with challan Police headquarters has issued instructions to conduct a special campaign on road safety across the state from April 26, 2026, to May 10, 2026, in which wearing helmets will be made mandatory for two-wheeler drivers. During the campaign, police will take action on a large scale. Along with issuing challans against drivers not wearing helmets, maximum driving license suspension action will also be taken through POS machines. Additionally, public awareness programs will be organised at educational institutions, colleges, and other public places to increase awareness among people. Police will run public awareness campaign in schools-colleges Besides this, social media, short videos, and other digital media will also be used for awareness about traffic rules. The directive states that the objective of the campaign is not just to issue challans, but to bring positive change in the behaviour of the general public, so that road accidents can be reduced. The police headquarters has issued instructions to police officers of all districts to take this campaign seriously and make it effective with the cooperation of the local administration and public representatives. Instructions have also been given to regularly send information about actions taken and activities conducted during the campaign to the headquarters.
