CM Yadav addresses the state:Wheat procurement deadline extended; farmers can book slots till May 9

Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav is addressing the state via social media. He said wheat procurement will now take place six days a week, with no holiday on Saturdays. Slot booking has been extended till May 9. He also announced that the wheat procurement quota in Madhya Pradesh has been increased from 78 lakh metric tonnes to 100 lakh metric tonnes. This will allow medium and large farmers, who were facing difficulties, to sell their produce. Key points from the address: The government has decided to raise wheat procurement from 78 lakh metric tonnes to 100 lakh metric tonnes. There may also be an announcement to remove the cap on slot booking. At present, a farmer can book a slot to sell a maximum of 100 quintals at a time. To sell more, another slot must be booked. If the cap is removed, farmers will be able to book a single slot to sell their entire produce based on registration. Currently, procurement limits are fixed on a ‘quintals per hectare’ basis, calculated using land records verified by the patwari. For example, if productivity is set at 40 quintals per hectare and a farmer owns 2 hectares, they can sell up to 80 quintals of wheat. Maximum cap on slot booking may be removed
