Police investigation has intensified in the broad daylight murder of civil engineer Clarence alias Raja in Jabalpur on Thursday morning. Teams of Crime Branch and Ranjhi Police Station are close to the accused. Police have claimed that arrests will be made soon along with a major breakthrough. Initial investigation has revealed a property dispute worth around ₹1 crore in Raipur. According to CSP Satish Kumar Sahu, some suspects have been detained and are being questioned. Four teams of Ranjhi police and Crime Branch are searching for the accused and have gathered key leads. Police investigation revealed that the accused had been tracking Clarence’s movements for several days. On the day of the incident, around 7:30 am, when he left to drop his son to school, he was followed, but the attackers did not fire as the child was with him. They carried out the attack when he was returning alone. Police said the probe is focused on the property dispute angle and arrests will soon expose the full conspiracy. Raipur property became the root of the dispute According to police, Clarence had purchased a property worth around ₹1 crore in Raipur. His maternal uncle and his son Prince were involved in the deal. While there was initial agreement over commission, it is alleged that Prince and his father later started pressuring for partnership in the property. Meanwhile, Rohit and Bhanu from Chhindwara also made an agreement on the same property and later got it registered in Rohit’s sister’s name. When Clarence came to know, he objected and the matter reached court. Sources said Rohit and Bhanu had also filed a complaint against Clarence in Chhindwara, alleging fake documents in the property deal. Clarence was called there to record his statement. He went a day later with his lawyers and a friend. While returning, he again received a threatening call. Pressure to withdraw court case, threat received on video call Clarence had filed a case in a Raipur court regarding the property. It is alleged that he was being pressured to withdraw the case. A week ago, a video call was made to his friend’s phone threatening him to give up the claim or face death. Sources said names of Baba Nelson and his son Prince Nelson surfaced in the video call, allegedly issuing threats to get Clarence killed. Family suspects Prince The victim’s cousin Ronaldo alleged that the property dispute is the main reason behind the murder. He said one of the bike riders seen in CCTV resembles Prince in build and appearance. Prince has reportedly been missing since the incident. Was returning after dropping son at school, shot on the way The 35-year-old Clarence was returning home after dropping his 5-year-old son to school on Thursday morning. Around 8 am, near Shiv Shakti Dawakhana, two bike-borne assailants approached him and shot him in the head. He collapsed on the road, and the attackers fled before anyone could react.
