A covert operation by Rajasthan Cyber Police in Bhopal has sparked a major controversy after three Congress IT cell workers were taken into custody in connection with a viral alleged letter of former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje. Following their detention, family members have raised serious questions over police conduct, calling it an “abduction” and filed a complaint at Kohefiza police station. “Took them on the pretext of court, now don’t know where they are” Complainant Mohammad Aamir alleged that his nephew Bilal Khan and his two associates Nikhil and Inam were taken away by people claiming to be Rajasthan police officials. The family said they were misled that the trio was being taken to court and were asked to arrange for bail. However, they were neither produced before any local court nor medically examined as per procedure. The family claims that taking them away without official intimation and keeping them at an unknown location is illegal and amounts to abduction. Know the Complete Matter? PC Sharma Says – Demand of Family Members is Safe Return of All Three Former minister PC Sharma shared a copy of the family’s complaint and said that the victim family has formally demanded justice. He further said that the manner in which Bilal Khan, Nikhil and Inam were taken away by “cyber police” without notice, medical examination or court production raises serious questions on transparency. He added that if everything was lawful, why was the family kept in the dark. He said the case has now become a test of administrative accountability and demanded safe return of the three youths. A division bench comprising Chief Justice Sanjeev Sachdeva and Justice Vinay Saraf heard the matter. The court has directed Rajasthan police to produce the three individuals on 27 April and also asked both Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan police to clarify the circumstances of arrest, including how and why it was carried out. The court has also ordered submission of CCTV footage from 20–21 April related to the arrests. Questions Raised on Arrest The petition has challenged the legality of the arrests and sought justice. The viral alleged letter, linked to issues of women’s reservation and delimitation, was circulated on social media by Congress IT cell, later being termed fake. Following this, Bhopal Cyber Police detained Nikhil, Bilal and Inam. The petition names the state government, Bhopal SP and cyber police as parties in the case.
