In Jabalpur, opposition over women’s reservation has intensified. On Wednesday, the Congress Mahila Congress staged a united protest against the central government. At Damoh Naka intersection, women burnt an effigy of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and expressed anger, accusing the government of breaking its promises. Mahila Congress office-bearer Priyanka Soni said that decisions related to women’s reservation were announced in 2023, but it has still not been implemented. The protesting women alleged that the government is delaying the issue only for political gains. Priyanka Soni said that not implementing women’s reservation is an injustice to women. She warned that if the reservation is not implemented soon, the agitation will be intensified further. Police present at the spot tried to control the protest. Women’s organisations made it clear that the agitation will continue until their demands are met.
