The ‘viral girl’ who came into the spotlight during the Prayagraj Mahakumbh is once again in the news. Her husband, Farman Khan, has claimed that she is pregnant. He said that due to this, she is neither in a position to travel nor appear before the police. Speaking to the Madhya Pradesh Police team that reached Kochi, Farman said doctors have advised bed rest considering her health and pregnancy. Police are currently verifying this claim, and a medical certificate may soon be sought from the local administration for confirmation. The marriage of the viral girl has been surrounded by controversy from the beginning. It was first labelled as ‘love jihad’, and later her family claimed she was a minor. The probe team also found discrepancies in her birth certificate issued by Maheshwar Nagar Parishad. On examining records from a government hospital, it emerged that the girl was born on December 30, 2009. Based on this, she was 16 years, 2 months and 12 days old at the time of her marriage to Farman Khan on March 11, 2026. Following this revelation, the local administration had directed cancellation of the earlier birth certificate that mentioned her date of birth as January 1, 2008. Family members had said – Farman married her by coaxing The girl’s parents have alleged that Farman lured her into marriage. An inquiry by the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) found that she was a minor at the time of marriage. Following this, a case was registered against Farman Khan under the POCSO Act. In connection with this case, the girl was required to appear before the police to record her statement. For now, the Kerala High Court has granted relief to Farman Khan by staying his arrest till May 20. However, the latest development regarding the pregnancy claim has added a new twist to the case, and attention is now on the medical report and further police action. Viral girl made allegations of harassment against parents On the other hand, the viral girl, in her statement at Thampanoor Police Station in Kerala, accused her parents of harassment. She said they were pressuring her to marry her uncle’s son, whom she considers like a brother. She added that during this mental stress, Farman supported her, and their closeness turned into a relationship. The two then got married at a temple in Kerala in the presence of local people. Director Mishra said – Cunning network of fundamentalists Reacting to the pregnancy claim, director Sanoj Mishra said in an Instagram post that the Madhya Pradesh Police appeared helpless after reaching Kerala, as a team of lawyers had already secured anticipatory bail for Farman. He further claimed that the girl became pregnant within a month, calling it a mockery of the system. He alleged the existence of a strong and organised network supporting such cases and said that money, power and conspiracy were aiding the accused. He also stated that he had personally suffered financial loss, legal trouble and mental stress related to his film project, adding that public sentiments had been hurt.
