Chennai Super Kings legend MS Dhoni has not played a single match in the IPL this season, as he is recovering from an injury. However, fans might be in for a treat as Thala trained well at the Wankhede Stadium, ahead of CSK’s blockbuster clash with Mumbai Indians on 23 April. During CSK’s nets session, Thala was seen batting, and he also kept the wickets, during a session full of fun and banter. The Yellow Army shared a video of Dhoni poking fun at one of his teammates as he remains lightning quick as ever behind the stumps. After the training session, Dhoni also made a young fan’s day by giving him autographs and clicking a picture with the young boy. Dhoni batted for an hour, did wicketkeeping drills for 40 minutes According to reports, MS Dhoni batted in the nets for an hour. He also performed wicketkeeping duties when Sarfaraz Khan and Urvil Patel were batting. The practise session gave CSK’s fans hope that Thala is nearing full fitness. Dhoni’s light-hearted banter with teammate CSK shared a video of Dhoni keeping the stumps, wherein he can be seen collecting the ball, after the batsman missed the shot. Then Dhoni lets out a smile and points his hands towards the dressing room, they also wrote a hilarious caption for the video. “Rule No. 1: Don’t step out when Thala’s behind the stumps”
“Rule No. 2: Read Rule No. 1 again,” read the caption of the post. Thala lights up a young fan’s day Another video is going viral on social media wherein a young fan met Dhoni. He asked MSD for an autograph on his bat, and then on a picture of the legendary batter. The 44-year-old signed both and also told the fan to give one gift to his father, who clicked a picture of the two. CSK’s record without MS Dhoni Chennai Super Kings have been without Dhoni since the beginning of this season. Mahi could play his first match against Mumbai Indians, but there is no confirmation regarding the same. Meanwhile, CSK have a mixed record without their former captain, having won only three games with Thala in the playing XI. Two of those wins came this season itself. What next for MS Dhoni and CSK? It has been a dissapointing season for CSK, as they have won just 2 games under Ruturaj Gaikwad’s captaincy. They were beaten by Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last match, while their next opponents Mumbai Indians won their most recent match against Gujarat Titans by 99 runs. Injuries haven’t helped CSK as Dewald Brevis was earlier sidelined through his own fitness issues, Dhoni hasn’t played any games yet. Khaleel Ahmed and Ayush Mhatre have been ruled out for the remaining games this season with their respective injuries, although the Yellow Army have not announced any replacements for the aforementioned duo.
