Leader of Opposition in the municipal corporation, Chintu Chouksey, has cornered the Mayor and civic officials over an alleged irregularity. He has claimed that payment was released for a road that was never constructed, and a fresh tender has now been floated for the same work. Indore city Congress president and Municipal Corporation Leader of Opposition Chintu Chouksey has raised the issue of a road in Yadavnand Nagar Gali No. 2. He alleged that under Ward 12, Zone 4, a work order dated 1 August 2023 was issued for cement concrete work in Prem Parmar’s lane, worth over ₹13.34 lakh. However, when inspected on ground, no such cement concrete work was found, even though a bill worth several lakh rupees had already been cleared by the accounts section. Tender issued after changing name He further targeted the Mayor, alleging that the Municipal Corporation has been turned into a “centre of corruption.” Chouksey said that a new tender worth ₹22 lakh has now been issued for the same lane, with only the contractor’s name changed to Ramkishore. He called it highly unfortunate and said he has already informed the Municipal Corporation Commissioner and the Additional Commissioner about the matter. Chaukse raised questions Chouksey questioned how a bill was passed earlier claiming the road had been constructed, while a new tender has now been issued for the same work. He said the Mayor must answer this to the public. He also criticised civic officials and leaders, stating that it would not be wrong to call the municipal body a “hub of scams.” He added that he will file a formal complaint with Municipal Commissioner Kshitij Singh and also approach the Lokayukta in this matter. He demanded strict action to ensure that corruption does not continue in the Indore Municipal Corporation.
