A violent clash broke out during an Ambedkar Jayanti rally on Tuesday afternoon in Amilia village of Sidhi district. The incident began over a dispute regarding a Bolero vehicle parked along the rally route, which quickly escalated into a major confrontation between two groups. Dispute over vehicle sparks violence According to reports, members of a rally—allegedly associated with Bhim Army—asked for the vehicle to be removed. The situation worsened after some individuals vandalised the vehicle, leading to an argument with the owner, identified as Mani Shukla. The verbal altercation soon turned violent, resulting in clashes between both sides. Four people from the same family were injured in the attack, including: Locals intervened to control the situation, but retaliatory violence further escalated tensions in the area. Mob storms police station By around 3 PM, the situation turned more volatile when nearly 200 people, including Bhim Army members and an agitated crowd, attacked the Amilia police station. The mob allegedly entered the premises, assaulted police personnel, and vandalised offices. Extensive damage inside police station The mob caused significant damage inside the police station, including the Station House Officer’s office and investigation rooms. Furniture and official property were vandalised during the rampage. Heavy police deployment, market shut In response, additional police forces from Amilia, Kamarji, Bahri police stations, and Sihawal outpost were rushed to the spot. More than 150 police personnel have been deployed in the area.
As a precautionary measure, the Amilia market was shut down, and continuous police patrolling is underway to prevent further escalation. Administration steps in District Collector Vikas Mishra stated that the situation is now under control. He confirmed that the Superintendent of Police, along with SDM and tehsildar, have been directed to reach the spot. The entire district police force has been put on alert.
Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage and videos to identify those involved in the violence.
