A sensational robbery took place on the main road leading to the CM House in the capital. Near Chinar Park, miscreants attacked Dr Manoj Verma, Director of the TB Training Centre, threw chilli powder into his eyes, and fled with his 11-tola gold bracelet, watch, and mobile phone. The incident occurred while he was returning from a cycling session at the Boat Club. According to Dr Verma, a motorcyclist coming from behind suddenly cut across his bicycle, causing him to lose balance and fall. Two accomplices, already waiting nearby, immediately overpowered him and rubbed chilli powder into his eyes. The attackers also threatened him with a knife. Dr Verma sustained a hip fracture in the fall and has been admitted to hospital for treatment. Police suspect the crime was pre-planned. The presence of accomplices at the spot indicates prior reconnaissance. The attackers appeared to have specific information about the doctor’s gold bracelet. Shyamala Hills police have registered a case against three unidentified accused and are examining CCTV footage from the area.
