balaghat-bridge-inaugurated-twice-sparks-political-row:bjp-mp-opens-it-first,-congress-mla-vivek-patel-later-cuts-ribbon

In Balaghat’s Waraseoni, a railway overbridge inauguration turned into a political clash on Wednesday, with the same bridge being inaugurated twice in a single day. First, BJP MP Bharti Pardhi performed a ritual and formally launched it. Later, a Congress MLA cut the ribbon. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is scheduled to inaugurate the bridge officially at a later stage. During the inauguration proceedings, when Congress MLA Vivek Patel arrived at the venue with his supporters, police stopped them using force. This led to a heated exchange between the MLA and the police. In protest, the MLA sat on a road sit-in at the spot. MLA said – MP has ‘murdered democracy’ Amid the protest and scuffle, MLA Vivek Patel, along with his supporters, performed rituals and then carried out the inauguration. He alleged that MP Bharti Pardhi and Pradeep Jaiswal have “murdered democracy”. Vivek Patel said the program to open the overbridge for the public had already been scheduled, but the administration stopped him from participating. He called the action “democracy killed under political pressure” and “malicious”. He said he was also not invited to the earlier Sarekha overbridge inauguration. He accused the administration of acting like an agent of the ruling party and violating protocol. MP said – CM will do formal inauguration MP Bharti Pardhi said the overbridge was approved during the tenure of former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. This is only a symbolic opening, while the formal inauguration will be done later by the Chief Minister. She also said this is not a political issue but only a difference in approach. The overbridge has already been opened for public use and does not require a formal stage event. Such controversy has happened before too Similar disputes had earlier taken place in Balaghat regarding the inauguration of the Sarekha overbridge and an underpass. These repeated incidents are raising questions about coordination between the administration and public representatives.
