The US might have announced a 2-week ceasefire on the Iran war, but the disruptions caused by the 6-week long millitary strikes between US-Israel and Iran have already led to a price fire in Indian households. From food products to cars and petrol, all have already become a bit costlier. Lets find out how much prices of such items have increased: Amul raises paneer prices Lets start from kitchen! India’s largest dairy manufacturer recently raised prices of 200 gram of ‘Malai Paneer Fresh’ by ₹3 to ₹92 from ₹89. Sunflower oil becomes ₹7/ltr costlier The prices of all types of cooking oil have increased in India since the beginning of the Iran war. From mustard to sunflower, all have become costlier. The refined sunflower oil has seen rise of ₹7 per litre to ₹184 per litre from ₹176 per litre during early March. Palm oil has also become ₹7 per litre more expensive. Groundnut oil has become ₹4 per litre more costlier. Prices of mustard have risen by ₹3 per litre. While pulses have also become costlier by approx ₹2 per kg. Polythene bags are now 50% more expensive Polythene bags are now 50% more expensive. This is why your local grocer might be asking for extra money for a carry bag. Water bottle prices back to ₹20/ltr Water bottles are also feeling the heat. One litre bottle of water that used to cost ₹18 after GST rate cuts, is now being sold for ₹20 per litre in many places. Cooking gas cylinder prices up ₹60 Domestic cooking gas LPG price was hiked by a steep ₹60 for every 14.2 kg cylinder. Non-subsidised LPG — the one that common households use in kitchens — now costs ₹913 per 14.2-kg cylinder in New Delhi. 19kg commercial cylinder costlier Since the start of the conflict in early 2026, the price of a 19kg commercial LPG cylinder in India has shot up significantly. Businesses like restaurants and hotels have had to deal with multiple price hikes. The commercial cylinder has become costlier significantly. The most recent and sharpest jump happened on April 1, 2026, when prices were increased by about ₹200 in a single day due to the crisis in the Strait of Hormuz. Currently, it costs ₹2,078 in New Delhi. Essential Prices Are On The Rise Asian Paints Berger Paints increase paint prices According to a report by Nuvama Institutional Equities, paint companies like Asian Paints and Berger Paints have initiated price hikes on paints due to the rising costs, as crude oil accounts for approximately 40% of total raw materials used in manufacture of products. Berger Paints had implemented hikes effective late March. LG increases AC prices by 5% As per a Nuvama report, LG has increased AC prices by 5% during the 6-week long US-Iran war. This move followed a previous price increase of approximately 9 to 10% for room air conditioners since January 2026. Blue Star raised AC prices even before Iran war began Blue Star Managing Director B Thiagarajan had said that the company had already taken a price increase of 8-10% in the middle of February. Haier India has also increased prices between 5 and 8%, said its president, N S Satish. Mitsubishi raised AC prices by 5% Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, a global leader in advanced air-conditioning solutions, also increased the prices of its AC by 5%, said its director Pradeep Bakshi. Cars become pricier too Automakers have also increased vehicle prices citing high input costs. Mahindra Mahindra had increased the prices of its non-electric SUVs and commercial vehicles by up to 2.5% from 6 April. Tata Motors cars also become costlier Various auto makers including Tata Motors, JSW MG Motor India, BMW, Audi India and Mercedes-Benz had already increased their vehicle prices from 1 April on account of rising input costs. Tata Motors hiked ICE-driven car prices by an average of 0.5% and that of commercial vehicles by up to 1.5% from 1 April. Reason for rising prices of goods services: Most of India’s oil and gas comes through West Asia. Because of the war, ships cannot pass through the sea easily. This has made crude oil very expensive. The global crude oil benchmark, the Brent Oil prices had risen 71% to $120 per barrel from $70 a barrel in between the Iran war. Since oil is used to make plastic and transport goods, the cost of daily items have gone up in India.
