More than two dozen employees working at Omkar Chemical Company in Ujjain’s Nagjhiri Industrial Area have alleged that while working in the chemical factory, their hearing capacity has been reduced by up to 90 percent. Now, they are not getting work in any other company for their livelihood. The surprising thing is that the more than 30 employees who have become victims of deafness are merely between 20 to 30 years of age. Very serious allegations have been made against Omkar Chemical Company, operating in the middle of the city. These allegations have been made by the employees working there. The employees have lodged their complaint from the CM to Ujjain Collector Raushan Singh. The situation is such that all 30 employees cannot even hear without a hearing machine. All people can talk only by using the machine. Barkhedi Bazar resident Lakhan Chauhan was employed at the company in 2022 on a monthly salary of ₹11,500. Within 6 months, he started experiencing ringing in his ears. When he consulted doctors, they prescribed a checkup. The investigation report from MY Hospital in Indore revealed that both ears were completely damaged. After this, he left his job there. Ears became so damaged that a disability certificate was issued Lakhan Chauhan said that he used to work as a laborer at Omkar Chemical. During this time, chemicals often fell on his body. Due to this, both his ears got damaged. He told the doctor that he got treatment in Indore and Ujjain, but there was no benefit. Now, disability certificates have been issued for half a dozen employees, including me. It got damaged due to chemicals. A complaint has been filed with the Collector. 80 percent hearing loss in three months Meengaon resident Rajesh Parmar said that he started working at Omkar Chemical in 2021. He used to get a salary of ₹10,500. After just three months, problems like a whistling sound in the ears, heaviness, and reduced hearing started. After that, when he got checked by a doctor, he was told that one ear was 80 percent damaged and the other 90 percent damaged. Now, other companies are also not hiring him for work. The company has not given any compensation. There are about 30 people whose ears are damaged. Collector Raushan Singh informed that an application has been received in which a complaint has been made against the company, an investigation is being conducted, and appropriate action will be taken as soon as the report is received.
