In a significant operation against corruption, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday carried out a major operation in Ratlam, arresting CGST Assistant Commissioner Shankar Parmar while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹1.5 lakh. Another individual, Suresh Mansukhani, has also been named as an accused in the case. Team from Bhopal executes trap A CBI team that arrived from Bhopal executed the operation. Officials had been stationed at the office since the afternoon, and the investigation continued late into the night. Entry and exit at the premises were strictly restricted during the operation. Bribe demand of ₹5 lakh alleged According to a complaint filed by a firm, the accused had allegedly demanded ₹5 lakh in exchange for halting GST-related action. After preliminary verification confirmed the allegations, the CBI laid a trap. Acting on the plan, the team caught the accused red-handed while accepting the first installment of ₹1.5 lakh. Searches underway, more involvement suspected The CBI is currently conducting searches at the premises of both accused individuals. Officials are also probing the possible involvement of other persons in the case.
