gas-supply-resumes-for-hotels-and-restaurants-in-mp:over-50,000-hotels-will-get-9%-of-commercial-cylinders

Over 50,000 hotels and restaurants in Madhya Pradesh will begin receiving commercial gas cylinders from today. Each establishment will receive 9% of their required supply. Street vendors and roadside dhabas will also get 7% of their needed gas. The Food Department issued the official order just a day earlier. The resumption of commercial cylinder supply brings much-needed relief to operators, who have struggled for nearly two weeks. Without cylinders, induction stoves and diesel burners became the only alternatives, while some street vendors were forced to buy gas at higher prices. Over 50,000 hotels affected The 13-day halt in commercial gas supply impacted more than 50,000 hotels and restaurants across the state. Many establishments faced closure, while others had to alter menus. Small dhabas and street food vendors were the hardest hit, relying on diesel burners and induction stoves to continue operations. Lack of orders caused the crisis According to reports, the central government’s guidelines allow 10% commercial cylinder allocation, but the lack of clear supply orders created a shortage across the state, deepening the crisis for hotels and restaurants. Association demands prompt government action A day before the orders, hotel and restaurant associations met with Rashmi Shami, Additional Chief Secretary of the Food Civil Supplies Department, requesting uninterrupted gas supply. The government responded by issuing the order. Relief for Bhopal establishments Tejkulpal Singh Pali, President of the Bhopal Hotel Restaurant Association, said the ban on commercial gas supply had brought the hotel business to the brink of shutdown. NRAI representative Abhishek Baheti added that the new decision will provide immediate relief to struggling operators.
