newly-built-₹3-cr-road-in-morena-begins-to-crumble:contractor-blames-tight-margins;-sub-engineer-says,-‘everything-is-fine’

A road being built in Morena for ₹3 crores has started to crumble during its construction. Villagers say that the contractor is using substandard materials. As a result, the road’s gravel and bitumen are coming off with just a touch. They have also made a video of this and sent it to the concerned officials. The surprising thing is that the contractor of Nagaich Construction Company, which is building the road, is also admitting this. Contractor Ramniwas Sharma says that if there is any deficiency, we will get it rectified. Anyway, there isn’t much profit margin in the competition now. Officials are also trying to evade the matter by giving vague answers. This approximately 4-kilometer-long asphalt road, being built in the Porsa area from Husainpura to Madhopura village, is being constructed by the Public Works Department (PWD). Local villagers said, To build the road, first the soil had to be removed and gravel laid. Then it had to be leveled and a roller run, but this was not done. This is why the road is easily coming apart. On the other hand, contractor Ramniwas Sharma replied, The road is fine. If there is any deficiency, please let us know, we will get it corrected. Anyway, there isn’t much savings in competition now. Sub Engineer said – We will not pass wrong bills When asked about this, PWD’s Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO), LN Gupta, held Sub-Engineer Brajesh Sharma responsible. He said, If something wrong or good has happened, he is responsible. Meanwhile, Sub Engineer Brajesh Sharma said, Everything is fine. If there is any shortcoming, we will check and get it rectified. We will not pass wrong bills.
