In the Amlai police station area of Shahdol district, a young man strangled his own mother to death after a minor dispute. The incident occurred on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday in the Eeta-Bhatta Lakhan Dapahi area. The deceased has been identified as Kusum Bai Kori (56). According to the police, the murder was committed by Kusum’s elder son, Sanjay Kori (32). At the time of the incident, only the mother and son were present in the house. The accused was trying to dispose of the body in a dhaba, but the police arrested him. It is being said that the accused was addicted to alcohol and rarely went to labour work. His mother used to taunt him about this. Angered by this, the son committed the crime. Argument over a small matter, strangled in anger Initial investigation revealed that the accused Sanjay had an argument with his mother over a small matter. In a fit of rage, he strangled his mother, leading to her death on the spot. After the murder, the accused went to eat at a dhaba After murdering his mother, Sanjay left home and went to eat at a dhaba. There, he also spoke to some of his associates about disposing of the body. Meanwhile, police received information from an informant that a young man had murdered his mother and was preparing to hide the body. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and recovered the woman’s body from the house. Suspicion of strangulation while eating Police found eating utensils near the body at the scene. This suggests that the son killed his mother while she was eating. After the incident, the accused covered his mother’s face with a cloth and left the scene. He then went to a dhaba (roadside eatery), from where the police arrested him. Accused said – she used to taunt him over small things Police took accused Sanjay Kori into custody from the location informed by the informant. During interrogation, he confessed to his crime. He stated that his mother used to bother him by taunting him over small things, and fed up with this, he took this step. According to the police, Sanjay is addicted to drugs and works as a labourer. The younger son of the family has gone to another state for labour work. Also, the three daughters were not present at home at the time of the incident. Station in-charge Bhupendra Mani Pandey stated that a case has been registered under relevant sections in the matter. Interrogation of the accused is ongoing. Police say that the entire matter will be revealed after the investigation.
