Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia held the hand of a nervous girl while she received the HPV vaccine aimed at preventing cervical cancer at the civil hospital in Myana, in Guna district, on Sunday morning. He also inspected the hospital during his visit. At present, a vaccination and awareness campaign is being carried out across the district for girls up to 14 years of age. On Sunday morning, Scindia was on a visit to the Myana area of Guna district. During the tour, he reached the health centre, reviewed the arrangements and inspected the civil hospital facilities. During the visit, he also met a girl who had come there for vaccination. The minister asked that the injection be given in his presence. The girl appeared nervous because of the injection. Scindia held her hand and reassured her, saying, “Nothing will happen. I take injections every day.” After that, the HPV vaccine was administered to the child. Campaign running under Collector and CMHO’s direction To prevent cervical cancer, HPV vaccination is being carried out for girls and students up to 14 years of age across the district. The campaign is being conducted under the direction of district collector Kishore Kumar Kanyal. The programme is being implemented under the guidance of Chief Medical and Health Officer Dr Rajkumar Rishishwar. Students in schools being given information about vaccination Along with vaccination, awareness programmes are also being organised across the district. During a programme held at a government school near Manas Bhavan, students were informed about the importance and benefits of HPV vaccination. School in-charge Narendra Bhardwaj and counsellor Rekha Sharma from the Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakram answered the queries of the students and explained the vaccination process.
