IPL 2026 is not very far away and preparations for the tournament are in full swing. The tournament is slated to start on 28 March and the schedule for the first 20 days is expected to be announced by March 12. Rishabh Pant, one of the players on whom there will be focus, has started his training under Yuvraj Singh’s guidance. Yuvraj, who played key roles in India’s 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup triumphs, has already mentored two of Indian cricket’s stars in Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill. Rishabh Pant trains under Yuvraj Singh’s watch In a viral video, Pant was seen grinding it out with the bat in a net session under Yuvraj’s watch. The former Indian cricketer was seen standing and observing as Pant batted against left-arm pace bowling. Pant was seen playing both defensive and aggressive shots in the nets and the highlight of the clip was him smashing two big hits on the leg-side. This was part of Lucknow Super Giants’ training camp, with spinner Digvesh Rathi seen standing nearby. Yuvraj Singh mentored Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill Yuvraj’s contributions to Indian cricket aren’t just limited to what he did on the field. But the former all-rounder continues to shape the future of Indian cricket by mentoring some of its biggest stars at the moment. In a conversation with Kevin Pietersen, Yuvraj had shared that he started to mentor both the cricketers before COVID-19. While speaking to former Indian tennis star Sania Mirza on her YouTube show ‘Serving it up with Sania’, Yuvraj spoke about his experience of mentoring Gill and Abhishek. “When I worked with Abhishek and Shubman… Shubman was already playing for India; he was much smarter, more hardworking, with greater work ethics. Abhishek is someone we had to bring there,” he said. “I think we had something like a four-year plan: ‘If you do these things in four years, then with your talent, you could play for India.’ I told him, ‘I’m not here to motivate you to play in the IPL… I mean, the IPL is great, Ranji Trophy is great… but I am here for you to play for the country.’ And I think for four years he did exactly what I told him, and in exactly four years and three months, he played for India,” he shared. Abhishek recently struggled to score big in the T20 World Cup but came good in the final, where he smashed a 21-ball 52, a knock that was pivotal in India reaching a match-winning total of 255/5. After Abhishek shared a picture with the T20 World Cup trophy after India’s victory, Yuvraj commented, “Single na lae bas chake mare jai! Many congratulations on your first w cup many more! To you and the team.” (Not taking singles and just hitting sixes!) Vaibhav Sooryavanshi meets Ravindra Jadeja in RR camp Vaibhav Sooryavanshi met Ravindra Jadeja in the Rajasthan Royals’ training camp. Sooryavanshi has already shown the world what he is capable of with the 14-year-old starring in India’s U-19 World Cup win earlier this year. Sooryavanshi was seen catching up with Jadeja in the video shared by the Rajasthan Royals and the two had a light conversation. Jadeja asked the youngster about his participation in the DY Patil T20 Cup and which team he played for. And Sooryavanshi told him about his team’s (DY Patil Blue) loss in the semifinals. The two shook hands and shared a hug. Both players will be key if Rajasthan Royals are to end their title drought. Prior to the IPL 2026 auction, Jadeja was traded to the Rajasthan Royals from Chennai Super Kings alongside Sam Curran, with Sanju Samson going the other way.
