The Indian Premier League (IPL) schedule for the first 20 days, is set to be announced by 12 March. This was announced by Devajit Saikia, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), on 10 March. Earlier, it was announced that the 19th edition of the IPL will begin on 28 March. Saikia also said that the BCCI will honour the teams that won ICC trophies in the past year. IPL 2026 schedule to be out by 12 March The IPL earlier was reportedly slated to start on 26 March, but the date had to be pushed back by two days due to assembly elections in several states. Saikia shed clarity on the IPL 2026 schedule while speaking to IANS. “We plan to announce IPL 2026 schedule by March 12. For now, we are going to announce the IPL 2026 schedule for first 20 days,” he said. Just before the India vs New Zealand T20 World Cup 2026 final, it was announced that IPL 2026 will start on 28 March. Earlier, it was also confirmed that the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru will host the opening game and the final of IPL 2026. This came just after RCB confirmed that they would play five of their home matches at the iconic stadium in Bengaluru. Their remaining two matches will be played in Raipur. India tasted ICC glory across the junior and senior levels in both men’s and women’s cricket at the Naman awards on 15 March. Last year, India won a total of three ICC trophies- the U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup, ICC Champions Trophy and the Women’s World Cup. This year, the Ayush Mhatre-led Indian team won the U-19 World Cup in February and on 8 March, the Men in Blue, under Suryakumar Yadav, won the T20 World Cup trophy. “The BCCI Awards ceremony will happen on March 15 in New Delhi. We are going to invite all the ICC tournament winners, including the recent T20 World Cup champions, as well as the coaches. Apart from the senior men’s team, the senior women’s team, U19 boys side, and U19 girls team, who won the trophy in 2025, will also be invited,” Saikia said. “We will also invite the 2025 Champions Trophy-winning team members, too. So, five ICC trophies won by various Indian teams during the course of the last one year – all the members of those teams will be honoured on the awards night and it will be a great evening of celebration,” he added. BCCI announces ₹131 crore prize money for India’s T20 WC team The BCCI, on 10 March, announced a ₹131 crore award for India’s T20 World Cup-winning team. Saikia, while speaking on this, said that the breakdown of the prize money will be revealed soon. “Regarding the prize money breakdown, we’ll let you know soon. But the total amount of Rs 131 crore, this is an unprecedented amount given to any victorious Indian team by the BCCI. Apart from the winning team, all support staff and selectors will get this money too,” the BCCI secretary stated. BCCI reviewing situation around West Asia conflict, LPG situation IPL Governing Council chairman Arun Dhumal shared that they are monitoring the situation around the West Asia conflict, which might cause hindrances in travel for some players, staff and other members of IPL 2026. Moreover, an LPG shortage looms after the Ministry of Oil and Petroleum announced that supply constraints will cause them to prioritise domestic and non-essential domestic sectors as the violence in the Middle East continues to escalate. “Right now, we are reviewing the situation. IPL is still about a few weeks away. We’ll see how to go about it,” Dhumal said to IANS.
