Indian cricketer Rinku Singh made an emotional post for his late father, Khanchand Singh, after winning the T20 World Cup 2026. India won the title by defeating New Zealand by 96 runs in the final on Sunday. This match was played in Ahmedabad. Rinku Singh’s father passed away on 27 February during the T20 World Cup. He had been battling stage-4 liver cancer for a long time. After attending his father’s funeral, Rinku rejoined the team for the tournament. Sharing a photo of him alongside his father, Rinku wrote, “Aapse baat kiye bina itne din kabhi nahi nikale. Mujhe nahi pata aage ki zindagi aapke bina kaise chalegi… par mujhe har kadam par aapki zaroorat padegi.” (Never spent so many days without talking to you. Rinku further recalled his father’s advice and said that he was living out his dream on the field after rejoining Team India in T20 World Cup. “Aapne sikhaya tha ki farz sabse aage hai.. toh field par bas aapka sapna poora karne ki koshish kar raha tha. Rinku’s father, Khanchand Singh had been battling liver cancer for a long time. It was stage four cancer. Last month, his condition became very critical. Rinku had gone home to meet his father during the tournament. But on 27 February, his father passed away at a hospital in Greater Noida. Rinku attended the last rites and then returned to the team.
