Violence broke out in Jabalpur’s Chhoti Omti area on Wednesday night during Holi celebrations when two groups clashed and pelted stones at each other. Police rushed to the spot after receiving information and chased away the miscreants. One person was injured in the incident. Reports also suggest that someone from the crowd fired a shot during the clash. Police teams from Belbagh, Hanumantal and Kotwali police stations have been deployed in the area. A video of the stone pelting has also surfaced. See, three pictures… Stones thrown at each other after argument Gabbu Sonkar, a resident of Chhoti Omti, said they live in Kadam Talaiya. After playing Holi, they were sitting outside at night when Appa Sonkar, Anshul Sonkar and Rakesh Khatik arrived and started abusing Ayush, who was sitting with them. When they objected, the argument escalated into a fight. Both sides then began pelting stones at each other. According to Gabbu, one of the attackers also fired a shot during the clash. Ayush was injured in the incident and has been admitted to the district hospital. No FIR filed yet CSP Sonu Kurmi said there was an old rivalry between the two groups, and they confronted each other again over the same issue. Apart from the video circulating on social media, police are also examining CCTV footage from nearby areas. At present, the accused are absconding, though the situation in the area is under control. So far, neither group has filed an FIR.
