A commotion erupted in the meeting hall of Gohad Municipal Council in Bhind on Monday when a debate over encroachment allegedly turned into a physical altercation. The incident involved a dispute between Acting Chief Municipal Officer (CMO) Mahesh Chandra Jatav and the son of Ward 16 councilor, after which the matter reached the police station. According to the complaint filed by the Acting CMO, he was reviewing official work with employees in the office. During this time, the councilor’s son arrived at the office and began a heated argument about not stopping construction work in the ward area. It is alleged that as the dispute escalated, there was pushing and shoving, which resulted in injury to the CMO. The matter was calmed down after intervention, but later a complaint was filed at the police station. On the other hand, the councilor’s side claims that questions were raised in opposition to illegal encroachment and irregularities in the ward. They allege that the situation deteriorated when no satisfactory response was received from the administration. The councilor’s son has called the allegations against him baseless. During the incident, a chaotic atmosphere developed among the employees and other people present in the meeting hall. It is being reported that CCTV footage has also emerged, which police have included in the investigation. Police have registered the case based on the complaint and are investigating the statements of both parties along with available evidence. Meanwhile, the matter appears to be escalating, and discussions about the municipality’s functioning have also intensified.
