Man threatens acid attack, rapes woman:Beats her in hotel, confines at home; threatens to kill, arrested in Dhar

A 36-year-old married woman has accused a man of raping her after threatening to throw acid on her in Dhar district. The case was registered under the jurisdiction of Dhamnod Police Station. Police have arrested the accused, identified as Sawan Chauhan, a resident of Nazarapur village, who runs a travel vehicle service. Acquaintance began over travel booking According to the complainant, her husband works as an electrician in Indore and visits home every 15–20 days. About four months ago, she contacted Chauhan to book a travel vehicle for her sister’s wedding in Maharashtra. During this period, the two began communicating, and their acquaintance grew. The woman alleged that on November 11, 2025, when she was alone at home, the accused came to her house and raped her. He allegedly threatened to throw acid on her if she disclosed the incident to anyone. She further claimed that he continued visiting her house and sexually assaulting her repeatedly under threats. Assault and money demand The victim told police that on the night of February 26, 2026, around 11:30 pm, the accused came to her house and called her outside. He allegedly demanded money and assaulted her when she refused. The following evening, February 27, the accused allegedly returned, forcibly made her sit on his motorcycle, and took her to Nazarapur village. There, she was confined in a room and pressured to marry him. Accused injures himself, issues death threat The woman alleged that when she refused to marry him, the accused injured himself with a razor blade and threatened to kill her if she did not agree. He allegedly kept her locked in the room overnight. On the morning of February 28, while his hand was bleeding, he took her to a government hospital in Dhamnod for treatment. The woman said she managed to escape from the hospital and went directly to Dhamnod Police Station to lodge a complaint. Arrest and judicial custody Police arrested Sawan Chauhan from the hospital following the complaint. He has been booked on charges including rape, criminal intimidation, and other relevant sections. He was produced before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody. Police said medical examinations and further evidence collection are underway as part of the investigation.
